Colour Doppler is a special type of Sonography that allows the doctor to examine blood flow through arteries and veins in the neck, arms, legs, abdomen and within various organs.
The radiologist will verify your exam requested.
The preparation for this test will depend on the type of ultrasound procedure your doctor has ordered. Some preparations include drinking water before the test to obtain better images.
The radiologist and nurse will position you on the exam table/bed and give you instructions.
A small amount of water-soluble gel is applied to the skin over the area to be examined.
A hand-held instrument (probe) is placed against the gel on your body. This instrument will be moved across the area being examined.
If you are going home, you may resume normal activities.
